Marcialonga Cycling Craft on the saddle on May 26th
Over 1600 cyclists already booked their bibs
Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa host the renewed routes
The 1st Minicycling event for children
Snow melts down at a slower-than-usual pace on the Dolomites, while Marcialonga Cycling Craft rapidly approaches, instead. The long-distance road cycling event throughItaly’s Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa (Trentino region) will get back on the saddle next May 26th, and according to the latest updates over 1,600 athletes already registered for the 7th edition of the race.
Entries to the 2013 Marcialonga Cycling Craft are open on www.marcialonga.it and cost € 28 until the end of the month. From May 1st until May 24th the price will be € 33. Those who will register on the very last day, on the eve of the race, will pay € 40.
There will be two renewed courses to choose from: Medium (66k -750 meterselevation gain) and Long (116k – 2.352 meters elevation gain), both starting and finishing in Predazzo town centre. The very first part of the race will cut down through Val di Fiemme and reach the village of Molina and Lake of Stramentizzo after 17 kilometres. Capriana and Anterivo, two picturesque little towns surrounded by mountain forests, welcome the participants afterwards, while a 10k downhill will follow to San Lugano Pass.
The 7k climb (steepest section at 17% grade) to Pampeago Pass, exactly where the Giro stopped last year in one of the last legs, is the next challenge, an impressive climb surrounded by majestic Dolomites that will certainly mark the Long route, as those competing in the Medium one will turn back to Tesero and Predazzo before this climb begins. After the pass, there is a 12k steep downhill and cyclists will enter the South-Tyrol area. Please take some time to enjoy the beautiful vistas on the descent, before attacking the Costalunga Pass (up to 1.752 meters a.s.l.), and descending to Val di Fassa, the towns of Vigo, Soraga and Moena and Predazzo, eventually.
The Minicycling event for children (7-16 years of age) will make its debut on Saturday 25th May and participants will enjoy an 850 meters long gymkhana circuit in Predazzo town center.
Along with last January’s Marcialonga XC ski race and the Marcialonga Running event scheduled on September 1st, Marcialonga Cycling Craft forms the Combined Event ‘Punto3 Craft’.
