‘Bicycle race’ is one of the British rock band Queen’s classic and is certainly one of the more sung songs by cyclists all over the planet. Next Marcialonga Cycling Craft road race in Italy’s Trentino will take place in exactly one month and 2.000 passionate riders from 14 nations already booked their spot at the start.

On Sunday 29 June the little town of Predazzo in Val di Fiemme will host thousands of bicycles that will run up and down the stunning Dolomites along the ‘Long’ and ‘Short’ courses - 80 km and 135,4 km total length respectively - and face spectacular climb such as the Lavazè, San Pellegrino and Valles alpine passes plus the Mount San Pietro tough climb and the following steep downhills. Two days before the road race, on Friday 27 June, the Minicycling event for children (up to 16 years of age) will get on the saddle in Predazzo, and flipping through the Val di Fiemme tourism and Marcialonga official websites several interesting attractions and activities draw the attention of visitors, including special accommodation offers, entertaining events and the so-called ‘Bicycle Path of the Dolomites’ that runs throughout Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa, from Molina di Fiemme to Canazei for almost 50 km, and suits everybody who want to enjoy sensational landscapes and have fun on their bikes.

 

This year’s Marcialonga Cycling Craft event is part of the 1^st Giro d’Italia Recumbent, a real tour throughout the country in 14 legs that started last March and will last until the end of September. For those who are not too familiar with this type of machines, recumbent bicycles or tricycles are bikes and trikes where the riders lean back on a full-size seat and pedal with their feet in front of them rather than beneath. The low riding position is more aerodynamic and ergonomic than the normal one.
