The valleys of Fiemme and Fassa (Trentino region, Italy) are getting ready for another Marcialonga event, i.e. a cycling race that will gather competitors from all over the world, soon after the conclusion of the 44th Marcialonga skiing event, with over 7500 participants.
The event is scheduled for the 4th of June when the expert Marcialonga organising committee will host a whole series of exciting contests. The novelty of the eleventh Cycling Craft is the fixed-gear race, scheduled on Friday, 2nd of June: A unique race on a demanding track, 980 metres long, in the town centre of Predazzo and valid for the Italian national ACSI championship.
The characteristics of the dolomite territory make it perfect for cycling and for this reason the Marcialonga Cycling Craft was launched more than ten years ago along the roads that have made the “Giro d’Italia” famous, with steep hills and fast ups and downs. The entry fee for one of the two Cycling Craft races (80 km or 165 km) amounts to 35 EUR and has to be paid by the 2nd of May.
The race is particularly popular among amateur cyclists and this year the organising committee has decided to conceive a team event as well, combining passion, strength, fun and sense of sharing. Every team must be formed by at least five members to a maximum of seven, including at least a woman, all taking part in the 11th Marcialonga Cycling Craft. At least one of the team members will have to compete in the long course, one in the short course, and one woman in the short course. The overall time will be calculated by summing up the best time for the long course, with the time of the best woman in the short course and the worst time in the short course. Teams may be enrolled in the contest by filling the form up and by sending it via e-mail to [email protected] or via fax to +39 0462.501120 by the 30th of May.
Top class cyclists, teams, long course enthusiasts, fixed-gear race: The eleventh Marcialonga Cycling Craft has an event for everyone, including children. The Minicycling race will take place on Saturday 3rd of June and is valid for the “Minibike di Fiemme e Fassa” event, a mountain bike race for girls and boys up to 16 years. Young participants will compete in the following categories: “Topolini” with no overall standing for children up to 6 years, “Pulcini” (7-8 years), “Baby” (9-10 years), “Cuccioli” (11-12 years), “Esordienti” (13-14 years) and “Allievi” (15-16 years), with a different number of laps according to the category. The race will be held on an 850-metre gymkhana in the town centre of Predazzo, exactly like the fixed-gear race.
