50 DAYS TO THE CYCLING CRAFT EVENT

Marcialonga counts it down to the road event scheduled next 4 June. Hundreds of cyclists, both amateurs and pros, will be riding their bikes up and down the stunning Italian Dolomites. The 11th time in history of the Marcialonga Cycling Craft reads two courses, three alpine passes to climb and pure fun for all participants.
As tradition goes, the local organising committee has planned several side events such as the Minicycling for kids and the brand new Fixed Gear event – in one word 'Fixie' – on 2 June.
On Friday evening, when the sun will be setting behind the mountains, the riders will jump on their fixed gear bikes and it will be all about explosive power, precise handling and rapid braking manoeuvres. 'It takes guts, skills and good physical condition - says 2015 Red Hook Criterium winner Ivan Ravaioli - you ride pretty fast, averaging 45-50 km/h in qualifiers and races. These kind of competitions have grown fast in the past years due to pros and amateurs who happily join these events. I recommend everybody to try them out at least once, it's so much fun.'
As said, Predazzo town centre will host both qualifiers at 5PM and finals at 8PM. Both men and women are allowed to join the event and a medical certificate for bike racing and sport activities is required. Entry fee for the Fixed Gear race is Euro 15,00 that includes a technical sleeveless t-shirt and a Craft Sportswear backpack. For all details, do check the official web-page .
The total distance of the event is 30k for men and 25k for women, while the lenght of the lap is 1,000 meters. First 3 men and women plus first 3 teams will be awarded.
To sum up, the 11th Marcialonga Cycling Craft will kick off on Friday 2 June with the brand new Fixed Gear event, followed by the Minicyling MTB event on Saturday for kids (again in Predazzo town centre), while the Granfondo race along both 135k and 80k long routes will jump on the saddle on Sunday 4 June.
