BACK TO RUNNING AFTER A STOP: HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF MUSCLE MEMORY?

It could happen to all runners to have to stop running: the mind does not cooperate, there is no motivation, or an injury forces you to rest or perhaps family or work commitments do not allow you to train for a shorter or longer period. The reasons can be the most varied, but what matters most is the will to start to run again.

Running after a rest period could lead to be worried about the losing shape; the old shape and the performance seem to be far away and impossible to reach. But it’s not, fortunately.

Perhaps you don not that our DNA is magical and acts as a memory for our muscles which, despite a period of inactivity, do not forget the athletic gesture and the mechanism of running or sport activity. It is called “muscle memory” and it is what allows you to have an advantage for the recovery after sports stop.

When a person starts training again, compared to his first time, he will have a similar muscle diameter and therefore smaller than when he was trained, but muscle memory will speed up the building of muscle mass as well as the recovery of tone and reactivity. The movements will be not only familiar but correct and this allows you to get back into a good shape quickly.

Time to time: continue to train at our own pace and with serenity, and even the performances will return to those of the past or even better!
