Readingand talking about a cross country ski race at the beginning of June could sound a little out of place and time. The 41st running of Italy’s Marcialonga in Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa has been scheduled for January 26, 2014 – true – but XC skiing lovers better not waste any time and seriously think about booking their bib. Entries for Italy’s most popular ski-marathon will officially open on Wednesday June 5 at 9am and the only way to register will be through the Registration Area inside Marcialonga website (www.marcialonga.it) with mandatory payment via credit card. Furthermore, if interested in spending a few days on the Dolomites and racing Marcialonga, some Scandinavian tour operators offer package deals that include 2014 Marcialonga bibs as well as hotel staying and more.

Joergen and Anders Aukland (four medals in the last two runnings), Stanislav Rezac, Sweden’s Ahrlin, Svaerd, Nystroem and Hansson, Seraina Boner of Switzerland are just the tip of the iceberg, and for next year’s race two huge names have already appeared inside the starting list. Both fromNorwayand both gold medallists at the 2003 Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme. Bente Skari Martinsen and Thomas Alsgaard claimed they will be at the start of 41st Marcialonga, and the latter one will almost certainly be joined by his new Alsgaard Team which reads Joergen Brink, Anders Soedergren and Audun Laugaland, among others.
Next January, as said, Marcialonga will be at the start for the 41st time in its history, and some other events are scheduled to get on track with it, as ‘Mini Marcialonga’ for kids, ‘Marcialonga Young’ for future champions and ‘Marcialonga Stars’, a charity event with famous personalities. After the great success of last January’s debut, the Marcialonga Story vintage event has also been confirmed on the eve of the ski-marathon.
Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa in Trentino region is the place to be next January for ski lovers. Don’t miss the chance to join 2014 Marcialonga and book a bib next Wednesday.
