The frequently asked questions about Marcialonga

What is Marcialonga?
Marcialonga is the most important Italian cross-country ski race. Born in 1971 from the idea of four friends who, on the way back from the mythic Vasaloppet, decided to organise a similar event in Italy.
It Starts in Moena and it finishes in Cavalese. There are 2 formats: a 70 km course that finishes in Cavalese and a 45 km course that finishes in Predazzo.

Does Marcialonga take place regularly during the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games?
From Friday 6 February 2026 to Sunday 22 February 2026 the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will be staged. The cross-country skiing, jumping and Nordic combined competitions will take place at the sites of Lago di Tesero (Cross-country skiing stadium) and Predazzo (Jumping stadium) respectively. Trentino is very proud to host the most important event in the world in one of its valleys, Val di Fiemme.
As per tradition, the 53rd Marcialonga will take place on the last Sunday of January, 25.01.2026, and will see small variations in the route in order to avoid passing through the Olympic facilities. In addition to the 53rd Marcialonga, the side events, Marcialonga Story, Baby, Mini, Stars, Young, which will be hosted in Val di Fassa for the occasion, will also take place regularly.

Who can take part in Marcialonga?

Just typing your last name (or the first part of it) on entry > start list or Marcialonga front office (+39 0462 501110).

What about the start seeding?
Seeding is based on the best percentage of merit. The percentage is a number obtained from the ratio of the competitor's placement in the Marcialonga (2024-2025) to the number of competitors who started in the respective year. Each percentage range corresponds to a starting group.
In addition to the percentage, the regulations also indicate the race time for the 2024 and 2025 editions in order to be included in the various starting groups.
For those who did not participate in the Marcialonga in the previous two years, results in other Worldloppet or Ski Classic races are taken into account.
