The 13th Marcialonga Story strikes a chord with the ‘vintage bisonti’
For the competitors a Bavarian beer stein in a sustainable and old-fashioned race package
On Friday, January 24 there is also the Winterfest: a Bavarian-style party for everyone
The Sporting Center in Predazzo also celebrates the dedication of the 11th km of track

The Marcialonga Story is one of the most popular side events in the panorama of the Marcialonga di Fiemme e Fassa, which in 2025 proposes the 13th edition of its vintage variant for Friday, January 24, which has already sold out.
The Marcialonga Story is a very special journey on cross-county skis, first and foremost because of the equipment one uses to participate. All the participants present themselves on the starting grid at the Cross-Country Stadium of Lago di Tesero equipped with pre-1976 material and therefore with wooden or plastic skis with 75mm ‘wide’ bindings, leather shoes and the clothing in line with the 70s and 80s trends. Fully kitted out from head to toe, the ‘vintage bison’ set off at nightfall (departure at 16.30) from Lago di Tesero to Predazzo, covering 11 km of the Marcialonga track, but in the opposite direction, to reach the finish line in the central SS. Apostoli square in Predazzo.
The over 300 participants of the Marcialonga Story will each receive a special race pack: an original and branded beer stein in the colours of the Marcialonga Story will be placed in an equally original bag made from old race bibs. Through this initiative, Marcialonga thus renews its commitment to environmental sustainability by giving new life to disused race bibs, which will become practical containers at the service of Story participants.
It is a pleasure to point out that among the hundreds of participants who, without any particular agonistic and competitive desire, will celebrate the charm of the Marcialonga Story, there are several foreign athletes too. Bisonti from Malta, Sweden, Germany, Latvia, France, Switzerland, Poland, Japan, Estonia and Austria will make even more special the revival variant of Marcialonga that aims to honour the vintage cross-country skiing by reviving it year after year, even more special.
At the start of this edition, there will also be the cheerful pair of footballers-cross-country skiers-friends formed by Domenico Volpati and Pierino Fanna: the two companions of a thousand adventures who in Osvaldo Bagnoli's Verona won together the historic Scudetto in the 1984-1985 season now juggle on cross-country skis enriching their trophy cabinet of sporting successes with their participation in the Marcialonga Story.
Famous personalities and cross-country skiers such as Bruno Debertolis, Silvano Barco, Cristian Zorzi, Marco Albarello, Maria Canins Bonaldi, Franco Nones and Antonella Confortola have enriched the roll of honour of the Marcialonga Story over the years, although what has always prevailed is the passion for cross-country skiing and the desire to be together dressing the clothes of the bisonti of yesteryear.
To add a further note of colour and festivity to Marcialonga Story, the attentive organising committee of the popular ski marathon proposes the Marcialonga Winterfest on Friday evening (24 January). It is a Bavarian-style party with the proposal of a themed menu for dinner, upon reservation, and open to all from 9 p.m. Performing on the stage of the Predazzo Sporting Center will be the musical group ‘Die Lauser’, a wild sextet that plays Tyrolean music and is widely recognised and appreciated.
Marcialonga Winterfest will also provide the perfect occasion for the delivery to the Predazzo municipality of the plaque celebrating the ‘Dedicated km’. Every year, in fact, the Marcialonga committee dedicates one of the km of the Story track to personalities, athletes, bodies and institutions to pay tribute to those who contribute to its success. Predazzo is the town that hosts the finish line of the Story, welcomes the winners of the Light and the little cross-country skiers of the Baby. It is also the location of the start and finish of the Marcialonga Cycling Craft, and at the Marcialonga Running Coop hosts the passing of the baton for the first relay change. The municipal administration of Predazzo has always been close to the Marcialonga organising committee, and the dedicated Km is a small but symbolic gesture of gratitude.
