The legend of Soreghina, the Sun's daughter, a beautiful princess whose life depended on the sunlight, has its origins in the impressive natural landscape of the Dolomites of Fiemme and Fassa. A mythological character that over the years has become a symbol of the values and sport traditions of Marcialonga with its three races: cross-country skiing, cycling and running. This local beauty will represent Marcialonga during the three events, starting with Marcialonga Running Coop, scheduled next September 4th in Moena (Trentino region - Italy).
The enrolments for the new Marcialonga ambassador are open and, in order to become the new Soreghina, participants must meet the following requirements: Age between 18 and 30 years, living in Val di Fiemme or Val di Fassa, having a good knowledge of languages, being friendly, athletic and above all desiring to live an unforgettable experience.
Soreghina has to be present at all the sports events and at Marcialonga press conferences. She has the privilege of crowning the winners of the three races and will be elected on Thursday, July 28th, in the village of Varena.
“Being Soreghina is an unforgettable experience, an opportunity to transmit the spirit of our valleys and to make our land better known, to meet new people, athletes, volunteers, and being part of the large Marcialonga family: an intense year full of emotions that will last forever", declares the Marcialonga organising committee.
The new Soreghina will have the unique opportunity of playing a prominent role in the valleys of Fiemme and Fassa, in Italy and in the world and of receiving the prize offered by the sponsor ITAS, the sash and a valuable jewel offered by the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme.
Since 2002 the title is conferred yearly and during the running event in 2016, the skiing event of January 29th, 2017 and the cycling event of June 4th, 2017 the 16th Soreghina will present herself to the world.
Gessica Defrancesco will therefore leave her prestigious role, as did Carlotta Nemela, Elisa Sardagna, Sara Tonini, Eleonora Detomas, Martina Bernard, Giovanna Zeni, Barbara Vanzo, Francesca Braito, Veronica Lorenz, Elisa Varesco, Elisa Zanon, Arianna Iori, Valentina Monsorno and Giulia Pastore before her.
