Angelo Corradini has been elected to serve as Marcialonga president for the next three-year term, last Wednesday. Since early 1980s, Corradini has served as secretary-general for 23 years in a row and was elected vice-president 4 years ago. Corradini succeeds Alfredo Weiss, who has been in charge since 1993 and who did not seek a new term because of a desire for more family time. ‘Serving Marcialonga as president was simply fantastic – said Weiss – and I will always carry this experience in my heart, especially the people I’ve been working with. We all did a fantastic job as a team and made Marcialonga grow internationally.”

 

Regarding Corradini’s career, he stepped into the world of Nordic skiing as a ski jumper first and then as a XC skier since early young hood, and in his thirties entered theMarcialongaOC.In 1984 he was elected secretary-general in the Fiemme Nordic World Ski Championships OC and he already announced to stay in charge until the end of the 2014 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships Junior & Under 23, scheduled in Val di Fiemme next January and February. Corradini has also recently been re-elected as Worldloppet secretary-general, after 10 years already served.

 

Along with new presidential election, the Marcialonga Management Board has been renewed and councillors for next three-year term are Enzo Macor, Adelio Corradini, Giuseppe Brigadoi, Fabrizio Weber, Alan Barbolini, Diego Deflorian and Paolo Dellantonio.

 

Over 2000 cyclists took part in the Marcialonga Cycling Craft event last week, and it was the last Marcialonga event presided by former president Weiss. The incredible success and increased popularity of the race amongst the Dolomites was also praised by title sponsor CRAFT that renewed the partnership with the Italian road event until 2016 under new president Corradini.

 

Marcialonga Running race is the next scheduled event on 1^st September, and it will be the first presided by new president Angelo Corradini.
