New machines and snow cannons ready to shoot
Tens of volunteers involved along with the OC
Marcialonga number 42 on track next 25 January
Worldloppet and Ski Classics circuits in the Italian Dolomites
The clock keeps ticking. Nothing to worry about it, rather, the Marcialonga long-distance XC skiing race in Italy moves closer and thousands of snow lovers might psychologically prepare themselves to the big event. Next 25 January, around 8,000 skiers from all over the planet and of any age are expected to peacefully and joyfully invade the alpine valleys of Fiemme and Fassa for the 42nd running of Italy’s most popular ski-marathon.
Temperatures have been dropping in the area during the past few days and the Italian OC has received three brand new snow machines and a snow groomer, previously purchased. The “White Army” deployed along the 70k long track from Moena to Cavalese is now composed of 18 cannons and 4 snow cats, all ready to whiten and groom the track in the proper way. Tens of volunteers in both valleys are also ready to support day and night – if needed – the technicians and prepare the track for the approaching winter season. The Marcialonga track has also recently been elected as Italy’s best cross country track.
Together with the race on 25 January 2015, several side events will get on track during the week-end such as the vintage promo-race Marcialonga Story, but also the Marcialonga Young, Marcialonga Stars and Minimarcialonga for children events.
Marcialonga 2015 will be once again running on the two courses of 70 Km (Moena-Cavalese) and 45 Km (the Marcialonga Light course from Moena to Predazzo), and it is part of the FIS Marathon Cup and the Ski Classics circuits, other than being founding member of the Worldloppet series, a family of many long-distance races in Europe, America, Asia and Australia.
Marcialonga is also available on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, plus the Marcialonga Apps on IOS and Android.
