The narrow skis adventure between Fiemme and Fassa Valleys Marcialonga-branded renews its appointment in 2025 on Sunday, January 26th.
Marcialonga is one of the most loved ski-Marathon events by both the amateurs and the “pros” that every year in thousands crowd its 70 km from Moena to Cavalese, on a journey full of emotions that can only be experienced in the Dolomites. What fascinates, it is not only the iconic and suggestive course of Marcialonga, with the legendary climb at the end to change the game right up to the last kilometre, but also the cheering and encouragement for the participants as they pass through the Fiemme and Fassa villages and the attention to details of the organizing committee, which between one refreshment point and the next never fails to support its “bisonti”. Participants, the public, volunteers, environment, mountains and nature are all elements contained in Marcialonga, which come together in a sporting magic but not only, able to enchant and involve anyone. Magic will be the leitmotif of Marcialonga 2025, which presents its new campaign “A kind of magic”, which also inspires the special poster of the 52nd edition, available from now on at the Marcialonga headquarters in Predazzo and at the Fiemme, Cembra and Val di Fassa Tourist Board offices.
In the 2024/2025 winter season the Ski Classics organization, which offers the most famous long-distance cross-country skiing Championship in the world, of which Marcialonga is unfailingly part, has decided to introduce some novelties. First of all, a new points system aimed at making the skiers' season even more engaging and full of surprises, which sees the races of the ‘Pro Tour’ divided into three different categories that award 500, 300 or 200 points. Marcialonga, which due to its importance also enjoys the title of “Grand Classics”, reconfirms itself at the top by joining the 500-point races alongside Jizerská50 (CZE), Vasaloppet (SWE) and Birkebeinerrennet (NOR). Another novelty concerns the introduction of the categories “cubs” and “vets”: the former will be for young cross-country skiers born between 2004 and 2008 and the latter, diametrically opposed, will be for the athletes aged 40 years and older, to make the races for international ski-marathon specialists more inclusive. Small changes have also been made to the rules regulating the conformation of Pro Teams, with the Italian teams Team Robinson Trentino (best Italian team in the circuit), Team Internorm Alpenplus Trentino and Team Futura White Fox ready to show their might among the rich Scandinavian battleships.
In the past edition, Marcialonga won the “event of the year” title as the best race of the Ski Classics circuit and almost 6400, 6357 to be precise, finisher's medals were handed out to participants at the finish line in Cavalese. This was the first medal of the triptych that binds together the awards of 24, 2025 and 2026. On January 26th, 2025, it will be possible to receive the second medal, which will add an important piece to the collection that forms the profile of the Catinaccio Dolomites. The initiative that sees the peaks of Trentino as protagonists of the Marcialonga medals also extends to the Marcialonga Cycling Craft with the Latemar horizon and to the Marcialonga Running Coop with the Lagorai mountain chain.
