The 54th Marcialonga expands with the new 30 km Just for Fun
On January 31, 2027, the 70 km, 45 km and new non-competitive 30 km races will kick off

Not even the time to celebrate the success of the 18th Marcialonga cycling Craft, and the iconic trentino brand is already looking with enthusiasm to the 54th edition on snow of Marcialonga, further expanding its already rich offering with a new event: the Marcialonga 30 km “Just for Fun”, a non-competitive event designed for everyone wishing to experience a more accessible version of the most iconic Italian ski-marathon, scheduled for January 31, 2027.
Entries for the cross-country ski marathon have been open for a few months now to Italian cross-country skiers, but from today, international participants can also secure their bib for an event that has welcomed enthusiasts from every continent for over half a century.
‘Not everyone dreams of winning the Marcialonga, but many dream of experiencing it’. The new 30 km Just For Fun, for which entries are already open, represents an interesting opportunity for many enthusiasts and curious onlookers who will share the atmosphere and, above all, the prestigious finish line in Cavalese, with all the other ‘bisonti’ on the same day, without having to tackle the distance of the main race.
The new event by Marcialonga joins the 70 km and the Marcialonga Light 45 km, without altering their schedule or identity in any way. The aim is to bring even more people into the Marcialonga universe, offering a “gentle” introduction to the world of long-distance cross-country skiing, perhaps leading them over the years to take on the more demanding challenge of the 70 km.
Starting from Moena and finishing in Cavalese, occasional skiers, former participants, accompanying guests, or anyone else can enjoy an authentic experience along a route of around 32 kilometres, passing through some of the most iconic sections of the course, including the two Olympic Stadiums in Val di Fiemme and the traditional climb up to the Cascata before the finish line.
The 70 km Marcialonga remains the beating heart and symbol of the event, but also the 45 km Marcialonga Light, which finishes in Predazzo, has also become an increasingly popular choice in recent years. The setting remains the unmistakable landscape of the Fiemme and Fassa Valleys, whose inhabitants are always ready to support and cheer on the Marcialonga participants, helping to create a unique atmosphere.
Marcialonga once again demonstrates its unrivalled ability to continue evolving, whilst keeping its values and history intact, in the spirit of inclusion, sharing and wholesome fun, aspects also shared by General Director Davide Stoffie, who has offered a brief assessment: ‘So far, registrations from Italian competitors have been very positive. We’re thrilled; we’ve seen great participation in the Cycling Craft and expect the same for the Running Coop in September, but the winter event on cross-country skis is already looking very promising, so we can’t wait.’
The opportunity to take part in the Marcialonga ski races is officially open to everyone, with the entries for the 54th edition available online via the event website. It is also worth noting that there will be no official rankings or competitive prize-giving for the 30 km Just for Fun race, and that a non-competitive medical certificate is all that is required to take part.
In October, registration will open for the numerous exciting side-events that enrich the programme from Friday onwards, starting with the evocative Marcialonga Story, followed by Marcialonga Baby, Mini and Young for younger participants, and the Marcialonga Stars charity initiative.
