In Marcialonga good news never lack! The countdown for the 39th edition of Marcialonga di Fiemme e Fassa, programmed on 29th January 2012, is gone into the last three months. The waiting is growing and the Organising Committee is proud and glad about the recent news, as all the supporters and fans: the Long Distance Italian Team will be officially at the start line with male and female top athletes.
The “home” skier and Olympic Champion Cristian Zorzi is in good company with Fabio Santus, FIS Marathon Cup winner 2010, Bruno Carrara, the best Italian at the finish of Cavalese in 2011, Florian Kostner, winner of the short race Marcialonga Light in 2007, Sergio Bonaldi, Simone Paredi and Marco Cattaneo, who is seeking for a new podium after having caught it in 2005 and 2007.
The Italian Team is ready to fight against the armed Vikings who will show up with the names of Jörgen and Anders Aukland, Jens Arne Svartedal, Thomas Alsgaard, Jerry Ahrlin, Oskar Svärd, Mathias Fredriksson, Jörgen Brink, Daniel Tynell and last but not least, Petter Northug,
Having a look at the ladies, Magda Genuin and Antonella Confortola (the winner of the two last editions of Marcialonga Light) will accompany Sabina Valbusa (on the 5th position last year in the 70 Km), Karin Moroder and Stephanie Santner. They will compete against the strong Sweden and Norvegian ladies, as well as the Marcialonga winner 2011, the Swiss Seraina Boner.
There will be sparks, for sure, on January 29th , along the Fassa and Fiemme valleys.
