The January programme includes also “Light”, “Minimarcialonga”, “Young”, “Story” and “Stars” events
Next appointment on September 4th with the Marcialonga Running Coop
“Thanks to all those who entered the 44th Marcialonga di Fiemme e Fassa on January 29th, 2017. We look forward to welcoming you in the Dolomites”: This is the message of the organising committee of the Marcialonga, an event that, year after year is approaching its 50th anniversary, a cross-country skiing race along a 70-km-long course in the valleys of Fiemme and Fassa (Italy) that gathers skiing enthusiasts from all over the world.
Online entries on www.marcialonga.it opened today at 3.00 p.m., to allow people overseas not to set the night alarm clock, and closed after just 8 minutes, an all-time record for the event.
At 3.08 p.m. all bibs had already been sold out, exactly 60 seconds less than last year: a further sign that Marcialonga is particularly popular among skiers, who look forward to taking part in this race, from Moena to Cavalese, supported by enthusiastic fans, or in the 45-km-long “Marcialonga Light” arriving in Predazzo. In March a preferential entry was granted to Italian cross-country skiers who therefore had the opportunity to register for the race before participants from other nations, especially from Scandinavia who literally “assaulted” the web site this afternoon. Marcialonga offers an important economic opportunity for tourism in Val di Fiemme and Fassa and in 2017 the traditional race will be accompanied, as usual, by spectacular events, such as “Marcialonga Baby”, “Minimarcialonga”, “Marcialonga Young”, “Marcialonga Stars” and “Marcialonga Story”: The first three events are obviously devoted to young skiers, while the “Marcialonga Stars” is a charity event and the “Marcialonga Story” is a revival of cross-country skiing history, with old skis, poles and clothes.
The second appointment with Marcialonga events, the Marcialonga Cycling Craft, has recently taken place and the special ranking for the combined event Punto3 Craft (combining cross-country skiing, cycling and running) will soon complete with the Marcialonga Running Coop on Sunday, the 4th of September, when participants will run on a 26-km track along the Avisio river: A tasty preview of the winter event of next January 29th, 2017.
