On the occasion of the 46th edition of Marcialonga, 4 Italian olympic gold medallists in 4 different disciplines, will deal with cross-country skis to cross the finish line together.
CRISTIAN “ZORRO” ZORZI – gold medal at the 4x10km relay at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
PAOLO BETTINI – gold medal at road racing at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.
ANTONIO ROSSI – two gold meddals at canoe sprint (K-1 and K-2) at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and one gold (K-2) at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sidney.
JURY CHECHI – gold medallist at gymnastic rings at 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
They named it “una rimpatriata tra vecchi amici” (a reunion among old friends) and it is what they really are: friends, more than sport colleagues and exceptional athletes. A classical relay would not have done justice to their bond. For this reason, we decided to create a special formula to let them enjoy together the race, with its beauty and difficulties but more than anything the great final satisfaction.
Zorro literally has home court advantage, so he will be the one starting in Moena- his village. Along the way he will “collect” Bettini and proceed together to pick up first Rossi and then Chechi, who will be waiting for them to face the last part of the race and arrive in Cavalese together. Along the track they will encounter the typical joyful atmosphere made by the spectators of Marcialonga. Even if now rumors has that they might even face the whole race together... In any case, we are sure they will enjoy this race among breath-taking landscapes and fierce amateur skiers. It will surely be a day to remember, and why not? to re-experience.
